Our Experience: I often lament about how few options I have locally out here in East Scarborough for great food, but I would be remiss if I didn’t let you all in on a secret hidden gem that is Mark’s Pizzas. Named after a local resident who made pizzas out of his garage for his neighbours as a hobby, eventually expanded to a tent on his driveway, then onto pop-ups and festivals and finally his own brick-and-mortar location. A changing menu, limited hours, and seasonal features – you might not get the same exact pizza twice, but you won’t be disappointed as everything is made from scratch and by hand. Take-out only, slices available for walk-ins, now featuring sandwiches for lunch (including a non-breaded to-die-for eggplant sandwich), but once they sell out of pies/slices/sandwiches for the day, you’re out of luck. Crust is similar to a thin focaccia – so yum! Their house-made hot honey was featured in the Toronto Life gift guide a while back. BlogTO named it one of Scarborough’s 50 essential restaurants to try in Scarborough. Orders need to be placed in advance – try featured pie with mushroom and truffle cream!
