The 2023 guideline is applicable to most rent increases between January 1 and December 31, 2023.
The rent increase guideline is the maximum amount a landlord can increase rent during the year for most tenants without the approval of the Landlord and Tenant Board. It applies to the vast majority of rental households covered by the Residential Tenancies Act. It does not apply to rental units built and occupied after November 15, 2018, vacant residential units, community housing, long-term care homes or commercial properties.
Rent increases are not automatic or mandatory. Landlords may only raise the rent if they gave tenants at least 90 days written notice using the correct form. In addition, at least 12 months must have passed since the first day of the tenancy or the last rent increase. If a tenant believes they have received an improper rent increase, they can apply to the Landlord and Tenant Board to request a correction.

"We sold our home recently with Alex and Elaine. We are extremely happy with their service. They are professionals, easy to deal with, honest and straightforward, and expert negotiators. They helped us prepare our home for sale and walked us through each and every step of the way. We were unfortunately caught in the downturn of the market, beyond anyone’s control, but despite that we were still able to come out a winner. Selling your biggest asset is a huge endeavour and we are glad that we had the best team behind us with Alex and Elaine."
As temperatures climb over the summer months, this Homemade Oreo Ice Cream Cake is the perfect dessert to celebrate a birthday or enjoy with family and friends after a BBQ. Even better, the dessert is not just incredibly tasty, but also quick and easy to make, coming together in less than 15 minutes, and can be made well in advance, as it needs at least 6 hours in the freezer to set in advance of enjoying. The only risk, once tasted, you may be asked to make it again and again – it is that good! :)
