Pape Village & Woodbine-Lumsden
Continuing our 2026 newsletter series featuring Toronto Life Magazine’s “Twelve Neighbourhoods Destined for Great Things”. Next up, two more East York neighbourhoods make the Toronto Life Magazine’s list of Where to Buy Next….
PAPE VILLAGE – “Small Town in the Big City” Vibe
Located just north of the bustling Danforth corridor sits Pape Village, a tight-knit micro-neighbourhood in Old East York. This pocket is lined with early 20th century Edwardian cottages or 1920s to 1950s detached and semi-detached homes, as well as low-rise and mid-rise apartments. In that mix, new and established, charming family-run businesses, like independent fruit markets, bakeries, flower shops, cafes and frequented by locals who are often warmly welcomed by name. Highly popular amongst families (data shows that 60-66% of households include children), it offers a rare balance of urban convenience, community warmth and relatively accessible housing compared to other central Toronto areas. Dieppe Park is a massive hub for families, including a popular splash pad, playground, sports field and winter ice trail, while Riverdale Park East features epic toboganning hills, and skyline views. Soon, accessibility will receive a big boost once the Ontario Line is completed, with a station right at Pape and Cosburn, but in the meantime, still enjoy the great convenience of the subway along Danforth, or easy access to the DVP for drivers.
