Continuing our 2026 newsletter series featuring Toronto Life Magazine’s “Twelve Neighbourhoods Destined for Great Things”, we’re highlighting another area they believe is poised for above-average growth based on transit, housing stock and overall desirability.
Next up, South Parkdale
Just north of the millennial-centric area of Liberty Village, is the growing and changing neighbourhood of South Parkdale. The area retains many of its grand Victorian and Edwardian style architecture despite increased condo development, but most of these ornate mansions and 19th century homes have been chopped up into rooming houses or multi-unit rentals. New businesses have sprouted up, supporting a bohemian artistic community (showcased in both galleries and street art), sharing space with what expert thrifters have long known as the place to find some of the city’s best treasure troves. South Parkdale is also home to North America’s largest Tibetan expat community, as such, the area is home to many momo shops worth visiting.
With its proximity to CAMH, South Parkdale has a high concentration of social support services, providing many area residents with the ability to live independently. Already well connected with TTC bus and streetcar routes, there’s easy access to the Exhibition GO station and the upcoming Ontario Line which will connect commuters to downtown and up north to Eglinton when completed. We expect to see more of this vibrant community continue to grow and change as more condos are developed and the large residential properties are being modernized in the coming years.
